Aboke Girls

Palma | Sylvia | 11 Aboke Girls return

Emotional scenes at the return of more Aboke girls. After Palma's and Agatha’s escape in February 2004, eleven more girls were liberated in the course of 2004. The latest girl to escape, Jackline Rwigesa, was liberated by the rebel army in the night of 16 to 17 January 2005. They returned with a total of fourteen children from their rapists. Among them was Charlotte, daughter of Angelina, president of the ‘Concerned Parents Association’. Charlotte still is still suffering from the two hundred cane strokes she got two years ago because her mother ‘campaigned too much for her freedom’. Two girls had been given to the rebel leader Omona as sex slaves. In the meantime, he died of AIDS. The girls are seriously ill. Our NGO is providing for their treatment. Seven Aboke girls are still missing. It is certain that four of them are dead.

Emotional reunion. Charlotte, daughter of Angelina Atyam, returned from captivity after eight years. She brought home two children from her rapist, rebel leader Raska Lukwiya.
